We offer therapy sessions to young people aged 11 - 25 years old in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole along with wider Dorset areas. Our approach blends counselling and psychotherapy theories with youth work principles. This forms an integrated youth centred therapy practice. Therapy is not something ‘done’ to young people. Instead young people are active participants alongside the therapist. Together they build a safe relationship based on trust with a non-judgemental approach. This helps achieve the ultimate goal of therapy - change.

How does it work?

Therapy involves talking about thoughts, feelings and experiences. Sessions can look different for everyone as we are all unique. After a referral form* has been sent to us you can expect an initial consultation. This is a ‘get to know you’ session where together we can explore if therapy at WIRED is a suitable match. If so, we will complete a contract. This is an agreement where we’ll decide a time, day and location. We tend to work in blocks of six sessions and review how things are going.

*Please note submitting a referral does not guarantee an initial consultation. The referral process may show a different form of therapeutic support would be more appropriate. We will try our best to signpost further where possible.

Where does the therapy take place?

Our therapy space is nestled in the heart of Ashley Cross, Poole. We also offer online therapy via Zoom.

How long are the sessions and will they be every week?

We offer sessions of up to 50 minutes. For some clients the whole 50 minutes can be too long so we offer shorter sessions of 30 minutes. The sessions are offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis. This is explored during the initial consultation.

Is there a financial cost?

We offer a sliding scale to help make our service affordable and sustainable. At times we receive funding which allows our fees to be reduced even further. Our sliding scale is based on household income. If you are referring from an organisation or school/academy, please inquire about fees.
